Vol. 1 No. 1 (2025): Religious and Cultural Dynamics in Strengthening Social Harmony in Lombok and Sumbawa

The islands of Lombok and Sumbawa in West Nusa Tenggara are rich in culture and religious diversity. These six articles describe the vibrant religious and social dynamics within rural communities, ranging from the strengthening of religious beliefs in Mesanggok Village through religious social activities to the symbolism in the Ngumbuq and Sembeq Senggeteng traditions, which reflect local values in addressing social issues such as early marriage. Additionally, these articles highlight interfaith social interactions among Muslims, Christians, and Hindus in various villages, demonstrating significant potential for fostering social cohesion and tolerance. The study also examines the patterns of interaction among Salafi groups, revealing another facet of Islamic diversity in the region. Overall, this study provides an important contribution to understanding how religion, culture, and local values can serve as a foundation for social harmony amidst a pluralistic society.
